Jenny Polak’s ‘Offshore’ at Socrates Sculpture Park

Jenny Polak’s ‘Offshore’ installation at Socrates Sculpture Park is a “future monument” to prison abolition. The installation features pennant flags with written messages from incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals from both the Hour Children and Fortune Society community.

“The ‘Offshore’ pennant flags move back and forth in the wind – showing either the side bearing text or a side of colored fabric. Collectively, the pennants celebrate the voices and resilience of those who have survived the cruelty of prison, and the hope for prison abolition.” – Jenny Polak
