After Words: Exploring Motherhood, Justice & The Impact of Incarceration.
We are proud to share that Hour Children’s Executive Director, Dr. Alethea Taylor, PhD, CRC, has been invited to speak as a panelist at the AfterWords: Unpacking the Complex talkback following a New York Theatre Workshop performance of The Peculiar Patriot.
Saturday, June 13 | 1:00 PM New York Theatre Workshop | 79 E 4th St, New York, NY 10003 Post-show talkback begins at 2:30 PM
The Peculiar Patriot, written and performed by Liza Jessie Peterson, presented by NYTW and National Black Theatre in association with Lena Waithe, is a powerful one-woman show that traces the human cost of mass incarceration in America, spanning from the plantation to the prison yard.
Following the performance, Dr. Taylor will join fellow community leaders and artists for a moderated town hall–style conversation on justice reform, the lives of incarcerated mothers, and the bold changes needed to break these cycles.
This is a rare opportunity to witness vital storytelling and expert dialogue in the same space, with Hour Children’s voice present throughout. 💚
